This summer, Ava started participating in a Run for Fun at the track in town. They have a little track meet one night a week for five weeks. The first night we went, Ava did not participate at all. She stood at the start of the race and just cried. When we left, I told her that I wasn't going to ask her if she wanted to try again next week, she would have to let me know if she wanted to go back. The second week, she said she wanted to try it again. It went much better than the first night. She ran the race, but got emotional at the end of the race. And by the third night, she enjoyed participating. This is usually her pattern with most things. It takes her a while to warm up, but she keeps on trying. The track meets are so cute. Ava's age group gets to participate in six events each night and they get a ribbon for each event.

Max loves going to the track meets. He laughs at the kids as they run by.

What a great thing for Ava to do. It will help her get used to new things and gain lots of self confidence.
