Run For Fun

During the summer, our town has Run For Funs for preschoolers through 8th grade for six weeks. They are so fun to go and so cute to watch. The school does a great job putting on the little meets and they get a good turn out. Everyone that participates gets a ribbon for each event they are in. Both Ava and Max enjoy participating. Max loves being on the track and watching the kids run by. He gets so excited. And Ava looks forward to going to them too and, I must say, she is pretty fast!

Extended School Year

Max qualified for the Extended School Year through the summer. He will receive Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Early Childhood. His schedule is a reduced amount of time of what he gets through the school year. He has a couple weeks off and then he will start up at the end of June. He will be enjoy being able to continue to go to school through the summer.

Ava's Last Day of Kindergarten

Ava's last day of Kindergarten was on Wednesday, June 9th. I was worried that she would be upset since she enjoys school so much, but she seemed excited for summer to be here. On Monday, she will start summer school. She will go to summer school Monday-Friday for four weeks from 8:00 to 12:00 and spend her afternoons at the day-care center that Max goes to. She signed up for Arts & Crafts, Sign Language, and Footsteps to First Grade for her summer school classes. Getting on the bus for the last time as a Kindergartner. . . John picked Ava up for school and took her golfing for the first time. They had a good time and Ava said she beat John!

Wordless Wednesday

Hoopin' It Up

John has been wanting a basketball hoop in the driveway for years now. . . and we finally put one up at the beginning of May. John's dad, Dave, helped John install the hoop and since it has been up the kids and John have been enjoying it.

John gives Ava basketball lessons and she looks forward to having them. They even drew the court with sidewalk chalk.

Max's "thing" lately is a ball. He always has a ball bouncing in his hands. Max seems to pick one thing and is really attached to it for awhile before moving on to something else. Prior to the ball it was his rocking police car. He will still rock, but very rarely now.

Here are a couple videos of the kids on the court. Check out Max's defense in this video.

A Glimpse of Max's Day at School

Waiting at day-care for the van to pick him up.

It's here!

His Speech Therapist met him at the van and Max went with her for his first 20 minutes of the day. I didn't get a picture with Max and his ST. After speech therapy, Max went to his Early Childhood classroom. Here he is working with his Early Childhood teacher.

Then it was off to gym class. Which Max loves and really participates in. He loves gym class, but music class is his favorite.

Max's OT met up with Max in the gym and worked with him. She is helping him play duck, duck, goose.

In this picture, Max is waiting in line for his named to be called.

After his session with the OT, he went back to the classroom for snack and then met up with his Physical Therapist. She took him outside since it was a beautiful day. They swung and worked on climbing on the playground equipment.

He does a lot in a two hour period. They really keep him moving! He seemed to really enjoy it there. Which made me so happy to see!
